Classroom Procedures

2009 - 2010

  • Come on time and prepared to class everyday with your math binder and a pencil.

    • Your class participation average will be decreased everyday you do not have your math binder or a pencil.

  • Line up quietly outside room 261 (along the lockers) until Mr. Beattys invites you into the classroom.

  • Begin working on the day’s warm up immediately.

    • The warm up will be on the yellow table, illuminated on the screen in the front of the room, or handed to you as you enter.

  • After completing the warm up, place last night’s homework on your desk for Mr. Beattys to check (or collect).

    • Homework assignments will not be accepted if they are late, left in your locker, or left at home.

    • If you are not prepared with a homework assignment, you must stay after school that day to complete the current assignment.

  • Students are expected to actively participate in all lessons.
    • ask questions, offer solutions, challenge responses, etc.

  • When working in groups, maintain your focus (no socializing).

  • Respect and listen to your peers’ ideas and problem solving methods (there is always more than one way to solve a problem!).

  • ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND!!!!!

    • Understanding your questions will help me gauge our progress and establish an effective timeline for the course.

  • A quiz or a test will be given every 4-6 class periods.

  • You will be given at least one week’s notice for all tests

  • Advanced notice for quizzes may or may not be given

  • Food and beverages are not allowed in our class room at any time
